Gamers looking to kick off their September gaming have some help with Feardemic and Simon Lukasik‘s surreal psychological horror FPS Bad Cheese launching today on Steam and the PlayStation 5. Inspired by a certain cartoon mouse that’s now in public domain, Bad Cheese is available on Steam with a limited-time 10% launch discount until September 15th.
Players step into the tiny paws of a mouse spending the weekend at home with a dysfunctional Dad, your brother, and a bunch of demons while Mom’s away. You’ve got to be on your best behavior and keep Dad happy. That involves cleaning around the house, making meals, killing spiders, and bringing your dad his pills.
Giving yourself some “me time”, you can explore and look for treats and action figures scattered around the house. Of course, you’ll face difficult situations in various parts of the house, and experience the gruesome reality of a child-mouse trying to maintain a sense of normality in an abnormal household.
The action (and horror) is all accentuated by hand-drawn art that has been combined with a 16mm film-inspired aesthetic that harkens back to 1020s animation. Of course, animation of that era didn’t exactly involve surreal body horror, so bonus for us.
