‘Victorian Psycho’ Starring Maika Monroe Releasing in 2026 from Bleecker Street

Margaret Qualley (The Substance) had been set to star in the psychological horror-thriller Victorian Psycho for A24, but that iteration of the project is no more. Both Qualley and A24 have departed the project, with Maika Monroe (Watcher, Longlegs) stepping in to star.

Who will be releasing the film, you might be wondering? Deadline reports today that Victorian Psycho has been picked up by Bleecker Street, with plans to release the film in 2026.

Deadline details, “Monroe takes on the lead role of the young, eccentric governess Winifred Notty, who in 1858 arrives at the remote gothic manor known as Ensor House. Her responsibilities include teaching the children table manners and educating them about their family’s history, all whilst hiding her psychopathic tendencies. As Winifred assimilates into life at Ensor House, staff members begin to inexplicably disappear, and the owners of the estate begin to wonder if there is something amiss about their new governess.”

Thomasin McKenzie (Last Night in Soho) and Jason Isaacs (“White Lotus”) also star.

Zachary Wigon (Sanctuary) is directing from a script by author Virginia Feito (Mrs. March), based on her novel of the same name. The book was released on February 4, 2025.

Victorian Psycho is produced by Dan Kagan (Longlegs).
