Xbox players will finally get their hands on the DreadOut Remastered Collection later this week. Previously released for Steam, the Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 5, Soft Source Publishing and developer Digital Happiness will release the collection for the Xbox One on January 14, with pre-orders available now via the Microsoft Store.
A compilation consisting of the original DreadOut and DreadOut: Keepers of the Dark, as mentioned before, the collection does not include DreadOut 2. The game is available separately on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
DreadOut is a third-person supernatural horror game that was released back in 2014 where you play as Linda, a high school student. When the group of high school students Linda was a part of became lost while on a field trip, they stumble across an abandoned town. However, the town holds a dark secret that has left Linda fighting to get out of the town. Using a similar mechanic to Fatal Frame, Linda is equipped with a smart-phone and an SLR camera, which she will use to battle against the horrors in the town and solve puzzles.
Touted as the “missing chapter” from the original game, DreadOut: Keepers of the Dark where you will help Linda face off against more ghosts and challenges in The Mirror Realm: a portal of worlds that connects it to eight haunted dominions where horrific ghosts are ready to greet her in the most terrifying way possible.
Meanwhile, Digital Happiness is currently at work on DreadOut 3, which was announced last year for a release on Steam later this year. In this upcoming third entry, players follow Linda’s journey into an interdimensional rabbit hole to find the source of unseen power threatening the balance of light and darkness. Travelling between the living and the world of the unseen, you must endure the non-stop torment from the evil spirits that will slowly devour your soul.
