The nominees for this year’s Emmy Awards were announced this afternoon and HBO’s “The Last of Us” has proven to be one of the hottest television shows in this year’s lineup.
“The Last of Us” has received a total sixteen Emmy nominations this year, including top categories Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Lead Actress.

The Hollywood Reporter further details, “The other Emmy nominations for The Last of Us include best production design, casting, picture editing, contemporary makeup, prosthetic makeup, music supervision, nonfiction short (for a making-of documentary), sound editing, sound mixing and special visual effects.”
The outlet notes, “Some snubs include Isabela Merced’s performance as Gina, the writing categories and directing categories (particularly Mark Mylod, who helmed the season’s second episode, “Through the Valley,” which was the episode submitted for four of the received nominations).”
The 77th Emmys air on CBS and Paramount+ on September 14 at 8pm ET.
