Strange Scaffold Announces ‘Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking’, Coming July 29 [Trailer]

Strange Scaffold is set to fire off another unique title later this month with Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking, their first online multiplayer experience where medieval monks catapult improvised meals into the maws of rampaging monsters to stave off the apocalypse. Launching on PC via Steam, the surprise announcement kicks off the studio’s “Summer of Strange Scaffold” celebration, marking the studio’s seventh release in just two years. A free public playtest is live now on Steam.

Exactly as its name suggests, this absurdist online multiplayer horror game has players take on the role of medieval monks who must prevent the apocalypse. To do so, they must feed enormous monsters with a catapult, evade supernatural enemies, and navigate a reality-bending labyrinth with up to four players before time runs out. More players can join in, if you don’t care about your sanity.

Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking features a flexible “tag-based cooking system,” where you chop ingredients, salt them, burn them, and then fire them into a kaiju’s jaws across 13 levels. You’ll also be having to run away from monstrous creatures, and when necessary, turn them into food. It’s all accompanied by a dramatic medieval soundtrack by award-winning composer David Mason, whose work can be heard in DREDGE and another Strange Scaffold title, Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3.

Starting today, players will be able to sign up to playtest Co-Op Kaiju Horror Cooking on Steam and play the full game from beginning to end for free over the next two weeks, while it’s fine-tuned and balanced for launch.

And as mentioned, Strange Scaffold has announced the “Summer of Strange Scaffold” event, which starts today and lasts until August 16. During the event, not only will all of Strange Scaffold’s titles feature a 30% discount, but the developer will also be revealing a bunch of new titles.
