Demo Available Now for Psychological Horror Game ‘Liminal City’ [Trailer]

Revealed back in March, Lightworker Games’ upcoming psychological horror title Liminal City now has a demo for those itching for more Backrooms Level 11-inspired horror. Alongside the demo is a brand new trailer for the game.

Described as an ultra-realistic horror exploration game, Liminal City puts you on the relatively “safe” streets of Backrooms Level 11. Rather than be chased by creatures or be required to solve puzzles, the game is just an ever-changing world to explore. However, reality can suddenly shift and you find yourself in unexpected levels.

While that sounds kind of peaceful, the experience is made quickly made disturbing thanks to the deserted landscape that seems to stretch on forever. There is no spooky music or jump scares. There is only the sound of the void, your own footsteps, and the unshakable feeling that something is constantly watching you…

Adding to the unsettling atmosphere are the dynamic level transitions, where you could be dragged into a different Backrooms level at any unexpected moment. There are, of course, secret passages, strange events and anomalies for you to discover.

It’s all tied together with VHS aesthetics to accentuate the creepy analog horror details, as well as the game’s realistic camera movements that aim to allow you to experience the first-person perspective “in the best way possible.”

Liminal City is currently in development on Steam.
