‘Christine’ Comes to Long Island for Screening of Carpenter Classic at the Southampton Playhouse

How do you kill something that can’t possibly be alive? It’s a question posed by the Stephen King and John Carpenter collaboration Christine, an adaptation of King’s novel from director Carpenter that roared into theaters back in 1983. The killer car classic is back on the big screen at the Southampton Playhouse in Southampton, New York on Saturday, June 21.

Carpenter’s Christine is playing as part of the Southampton Playhouse’s “Fast Cars Forever” program, a series of car-themed films paving the way for the release of F1: The Movie.

Dedicated to the thrill of racecars and the daredevils behind the wheel, the repertory series runs from June 20 – June 29, featuring more than 50 years of classic car movies including Christine as well as Two-Lane Blacktop, Days of Thunder, and the animated film Cars.

The Southampton Playhouse Previews, “From the earliest days of moving pictures, cars have zoomed across the screen. To get in the mood for the upcoming release of F1: The Movie, the Playhouse is proud to present Fast Cars Forever!, a series of movies dedicated to the thrill of racecars and the daredevils behind the wheel.

“The series culminates with a special car meetup in our lot ahead on opening weekend for F1, the details of which are available now to IMAX members with specifics to be released soon.”

Grab your tickets now to see Christine at 9:30pm ET on Saturday, June 21!

In the Carpenter classic, “a shy teen comes out of his shell after he buys a ’58 Plymouth Fury to fix up. But the car has a mind of its own, as well as a murderous past, and begins to change the young man and everyone around him in most dangerous fashion.”
